Builder Services

Services For Builders

As of January 1, 2011 Georgia adopted the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code with Georgia Supplements and Amendments.

As part of this code change, Duct and Envelope testing is now requred for all new construction permitted on or after July 1, 2011.

Atlanta Blower Door will meet builders, superintendents, and your HVAC or Insulation contractors at the jobsite to perform a walk-thru and help find your leaks before recording the required testing results. We will work with you and your contractors to help achieve the required air flow test results and obtain your C.O. by meeting the new inspection and code requirements for envelope testing.

Give us a call for more information and to schedule an inspection. As part of this inspection, we will set up the equipment and perform a walk-thru to help locate any air leaks and allow them to be corrected before recording test results.

Advantages of Testing

  • Determine whether a certain airtightness target — for example, the Passivhaus airtightness standard –  has been met
  • Document airtightness levels needed to qualify for certain home labeling programs, including Energy Star and Earthcraft House
  • Improve heat loss and heat gain calculations for the next house you build
  • Quantify a home’s air tightness to prospective buyers
